By animating these otherwise static forms, their human attributes became apparent to me. There is the oversized mouth, derrier and the round little body in between with a decorative skin. The handles or in some cases, handle are just a vestigial limb; a symbolic reference. On each bottom there is the design of a target with a bull's eye hole in the center. This mark of mortality being at the opposite end of the vessel, is not truly comprehended by it's bearer. The vessel in any case is too engaged in the act of self expression. This vitality issuing forth from each vessel is an imaginary leap; something like a word or thought balloon in a comic strip. The liquid is solidified into an emotion.
Together, they represent being in the clutch of each moment without understanding the finite nature of all this expressiveness.
They are cast in bronze and have a silver nitrate patina.
